Tablecloth Fabric Calculator
A tablecloth is the table's dimensions plus twice the drop (the overhang) on every side that has one. Round tablecloths are cut from a square of fabric pieced from full fabric widths — this calculator sizes that square and tells you how many widths it takes; rectangular ones are simpler, just seamed lengthwise if the fabric isn't wide enough.

Typical sizes
A standard drop is 12 in (30 cm) for a formal floor-length look, or 6–8 in (15–20 cm) for a casual everyday cloth that just clears the chairs. Round tables are commonly 36, 48 or 60 in (91, 122, 152 cm) across.
Where this goes wrong
For a round cloth pieced from multiple widths, centre a full width in the middle and add narrower matching strips on each side rather than one off-centre seam — it reads as intentional and uses fabric more efficiently. On patterned fabric, centre the motif on the table, not on the seam.
Seam allowance
A 1.3 cm (1/2 in) seam allowance is added where widths are joined; the hemmed edge allowance is included in the drop you enter.
