Roman Shade Fabric Calculator
A roman shade is a single flat panel (not gathered like a curtain), almost always lined for body and light control, so the face fabric and lining are cut to the same finished size plus a small working allowance on every edge. Because the panel is flat, pattern repeat only matters if you need two shades side-by-side to match each other.

Typical sizes
Roman shades are typically mounted inside or outside the window frame; outside-mount shades commonly add 2–3 in (5–8 cm) of width beyond the opening on each side for light coverage. Standard construction allowance is about 3 in (7.6 cm) on the sides and top/bottom combined.
Where this goes wrong
If you're covering more than one window with the same fabric and it has a repeat, plan the panels' cutting so the pattern lines up at the same height across the room — cut all shades from the same run of fabric rather than separately.
Seam allowance
A 3.8 cm (1.5 in) working allowance is added on every edge for face fabric and lining alike.
